Summer is over and it's time for Alice to go back to the Institute. Among the tasks that Wally immediately entrusts her is that of tutoring Erika, a new resident. In the meantime, human bones are found in the basement of an archaeological area. Alice and Claudio, with whom the girl continues to live a turbulent love relationship, go to the place. Here Alice meets the fascinating PM Sergio Einardi and soon discovers that, between the man and Conforti, there is a mysterious resentment linked to the past.

Claudio and Alice continue to have opposite points of view on love. Meanwhile Ambra mysteriously disappears and Claudio seems to be very worried. A pharmacy robbery degenerated into murder leads Alice and Conforti to meet Einardi again, who once again does not hide a keen interest in the student. In the meantime, the Supreme Prof. Malcomess, director of the Institute, communicates the decision to retire, opening the race to his succession and calling for a competition among the trainees for a scholarship in Baltimore.

During the investigation into the attempted murder of a theater director, Alice senses the reason for the rust between Conforti and Einardi: between the two there is a war that risks involving her. During the investigations, which also bring up Cordelia, Alice's roommate, a formidable scientific intuition of the student reveals the motive for the attempted murder.

Claudio has a proposal for Alice: he will agree to formalize their relationship and open up to the project of a family with her, as long as Alice leaves the Institute. Alice is stunned: such an either or is impossible to accept. Meanwhile, a crime on a sailing boat brings the pupil and PM Einardi even closer.

Alice confesses to Claudio what happened with Einardi. The murder of a cemetery maintenance worker captures the student's interest: her colleague and friend Lara seems to be involved in the affair. On the sentimental front, meanwhile, Conforti does not cease hostilities, while Einardi continues his courtship. Alice feels more and more confused.

The crime of a young Libyan inmate brings Alice into contact with the prison world. Claudio tries to get closer to the girl, but Einardi's intrusions do nothing but fuel the misunderstandings. Alice must admit that the court of the brilliant PM pleases her and, when the man invites her to spend a weekend in the countryside, the girl accepts. Things, however, will not go as he had hoped.

Alice is convinced that she was "used" by Einardi. Meanwhile, Calligaris summons them to a school where a student died falling from a structure under construction: it is necessary to carry out the relevant findings to understand if it was a murder or if there is something else behind it. While following the developments of the investigation, Alice learns from the PM's ex-wife what happened in the past between Einardi and Conforti. Knowing the truth won't make her feel better.

A famous surgeon is killed during a home robbery. In the course of the investigation, Alice's sentimental doubts about Claudio mingle with professional ones: she is almost certain that Conforti is hiding something about the case they are following. Alice's spirit of observation will be decisive to understand what happened and to allow Claudio to reveal the reasons for his strange behavior.

Between Alice and Claudio it seems to be clear again. The death of an American student dedicated to helping the homeless will bring the student back to Einardi, who is still interested in her. Arthur's sudden return, however, will put everything back into play.

A mysterious illness causes the death of a young oboist and the inspection carried out by Conforti and Alice in a luxurious recording studio leads the student to reflect on human impulses such as jealousy, envy for talent and unbridled ambition. In the meantime, the winner of the contest for Baltimore is announced.

Claudio announces to Alice that he will probably become the director of the Institute and tells the girl that he wants to meet her parents, to make their love official. The romantic atmosphere is abruptly interrupted by the tragic wounding of Deputy Chief Calligaris in front of the institute's entrance. The investigations will progressively distance Claudio and Alice: their ways of reacting to emotions, pain and adversity are too different.

A running coach is found dead on the edge of a track. This is a complicated investigation, with a single visually impaired witness. Alice, meanwhile, must reflect on her feelings towards Arthur who reveals that he wants to return to live in Rome just to be close to her.

"Sacrofano, what do you say if we get married?" This is how, in the midst of an autopsy, Claudio makes his marriage proposal to Alice. Meanwhile, a new director, Andrea Manes, and two first-year postgraduates, Giulia and Sandro, have arrived at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, while Professor Boschi, aka "Wally", is exiled to the basement.

Alice and Claudio begin preparations for the wedding, but she notices that he is hiding something from her. While Alice is working on the murder case of an old prof. in psychiatry, the historic friendship with Lara and Paolone is put to the test by the doctoral announcement: there are only two places up for grabs, the loser will have to leave the institute.

Alice is intrigued by the arrival of Giacomo, Claudio's brother with a wild and unconventional charm. He would like to know what has divided them in the past, but Claudio does not confide, even now that they are getting married. In any case, Alice's attention, rather than Claudio's reluctance, is focused on the Suprema: she appreciates its rigor and considers it a model of life totally different from what she had always imagined for herself. During the investigation into the murder of a sushi chef, Silvia confronts Alice about her working relationship with PM Einardi. At the institute Erika asks Paolone to help her conquer the fascinating Sandro who instead seems to have a keen interest in Alice. The first meeting between Giacomo and the Supreme generates sparks, leading Claudio to be even more irritated by the presence of his brother.

The investigation into the tragic accident that occurred to a stunt double during the shooting of a film captures Alice's attention, making her forget an appointment with Claudio. The relationship of love between the two becomes more and more turbulent, while Sandro, who supports her in the inspection, is increasingly fascinated by her. Marco has an important job opportunity that puts him and Lara at a crossroads. While working on the research that Manes has entrusted to her, Alice's unstoppable curiosity leads her to discover an unspeakable truth about the Supreme.

Alice and Claudio are at loggerheads for Giacomo's presence and for the numerous tasks entrusted to the student by the Supreme. By order of Manes, they are summoned to shed light on the death of an Olympic rifle champion killed in a firing range. Forced closeness doesn't make things better, while the Supreme senses that Alice has discovered her secret.

Alice is destroyed by suspicions of Claudio's betrayal and returns the engagement ring, sending him into a rage. To cheer her up, Wally involves her in her secret project and Silvia suggests reprisals. Meanwhile, a famous trapper is killed just before a concert and the difficult expertise is entrusted to the Suprema herself, who decides to take Alice with her. Sandro sees an opportunity and decides to come forward with Alice, but does not realize that Claudio has seen it all ...

Mutual jealousy causes sparks between Alice and Claudio, but Giacomo's sudden arrest calls everything into question. Claudio's brother is accused of the murder of an industrialist in a golf club. The motive is there and Silvia's investigations reveal unsuspected truths about Giacomo and Claudio's past to Alice and the Supreme. Alice and Claudio find themselves united in believing in Giacomo's innocence, even if all the evidence seems to confirm his guilt.

The death of an elderly playboy during the funeral of a friend of grandmother Amalia's and the unexpected involvement of her grandmother in the investigation push Alice and Lara to entrust Camilla to the most unlikely babysitter: Cordelia. Meanwhile, someone has enrolled Paolone in a cooking talent, but the outcome will not be quite what they hoped for. Alice has a formidable intuition that could prove Giacomo's innocence and to verify it goes beyond the limits of what is allowed.

Claudio does his utmost to protect Alice, but at the same time keeps her at a distance, while trying to prove Giacomo's innocence. Meanwhile, Lara asks Alice to collaborate on her first appraisal: a boy died while doing parkour and it is necessary to carry out the relevant findings. Just when Erika realizes that her feelings for Paolone go far beyond friendship, he moves away.

Claudio and Alice follow an intuition that can exonerate Giacomo. Paolone is also summoned for his first report: the mysterious death by poisoning of a well-known food critic. Alice's stubbornness, meanwhile, leads her to make one last attempt in the quest that the Supreme had given up.

Giacomo's provisional release re-starts the investigation into the crime at the golf club. Meanwhile, Alice discovers that someone is looking for information on Manes: perhaps the person she so desires to meet is closer to her than she imagines. For Alice and Claudio the day set for the wedding has arrived, but it passes in vain.
