Laurence leaves Linda and moves in with his mistress Gemma. What ensues is a bitter divorce and fight over the custody of their five-year-old son Jason.
The friendly arrangements between Laurence and Julia over visiting five-year-old Jason and splitting up the marital home don't suit Gemma. She pushes Laurence into starting proper divorce proceedings.
Laurence's solicitor has convinced him that the divorce will easily and quickly be won in his favour but Linda's solicitor seems equally optimistic on her behalf. Gemma is caught in the middle.
Laurence and Linda have at last reached an agreement: they will sack their lawyers and attempt to divorce themselves unaided. But such cooperation is bound to put further strain on Laurence's relationship with Gemma.
